I recently converted a similar Boardman hybrid bike to drop bars, you need to use a shorter stem than normal due to the long top tube but other than that it worked out well. It is running 1 x 10 speed Shimano GRX with 44 chainring and 11-32 cassette.

Yamaguchi had some wacky design ideas. This is just one.

Veloflex make lovely tubulars. My favourite was the Vlaanderen which I think was a 28mm wide tub. I have a pair of NOS Sprinters on some Mavic 501/GL330 wheels, looking forward to riding them soon on a project Vitus 979 I am putting together.

Other manufacturers are still making tubs. Have a look at Challenge and Veloflex.

I only have an FSA Platinum which doesn't feel in great condition, the bearings are not very smooth but there appears to be no play and weighs 200g. Not sure if that would be of interest.
