    Quick Colnago Question

Hi guys ,I reckon I might get a quicker reply here than from hours of online research .Im looking at an ad for a keenly priced Colnago steel bike (no,I wont post link!) Now it has the attractive ornate lug style found on certain mid to late 90s Masters and the occasional Spiral Conic SLX but...

    Hi and First Classic Roadbike - Claud Butler ‘ 853 ‘ (?)

Clearance not great .( tyre mark on paintwork ) ChInset is most likely Next thing to be swapped out along with prob some kind of ‘brifters’ being installed .But a test ride of new stem and tyres is priority -if it ever stops raining

    Peugeot 531pro ID

Sorry ,hold on ,did you say youre going to transplant this lovely lightweight 531p frame into the heart of a cheap old HLE framed bike ?No matter how cherished the HLE that seems overkill .Like transplanting the mechanicals and interior of a Mini Metro into a Jag XJS shell

    Hi and First Classic Roadbike - Claud Butler ‘ 853 ‘ (?)

Is it true my old Campag Mirage 9 brake lever shifters will work with Shimano 9 if I slightly extend gear cable route by linking it around end of derailleur near eyelet bolt? Not in a massive hurry to ditch Dura Ace frame mounted gear levers ….Chainset could be next to go …..Thoughts...

    Hi and First Classic Roadbike - Claud Butler ‘ 853 ‘ (?)

Shorter quill stem fitted , more in keeping with my advancing years .Schwalbe Marathons replaced with my old Conti GPs ( almost one kg saving there !!!) Those 38cm Nitto B123s felt very fast on my two spins on this bike-much as I wanted to hate them …surprisingly they’re over twice the weight...

    Hi and First Classic Roadbike - Claud Butler ‘ 853 ‘ (?)

Thanks Peachy your previous posts were helpful prepurchase .Does it not look like the stem has been cut a bit low ?By the way bike comes with clean set of Dura Ace 7400 SIS frame gear shifters but I guess it would be more 'authentic' with 7800 STI

    Hi and First Classic Roadbike - Claud Butler ‘ 853 ‘ (?)

I’ve been ruminating over a classic for the best part of two years now and not the bullet tonight .I have an old Liberty Seguros era BH aluminium frame with carbon fork and low end Campag stuff ( but runs nice in Conti GP4000s ) I may only go out once in a year or two but have increased my spin...
