Ah that's interesting - my 2000 Mount Vision takes a 30.0mm seat post, which is a trickier size to find. I don't miss having a dropper on mine too much, as the general set up is biased towards longer gently cross country riding, but I think I'd want one if it was set up with wider handlebars...

I like it! What dropper post are you using - did you manage to find a 30.0mm one, or is it a 27.2mm with a shim? Or were you brave enough to ream out the seat tube to take a 30.9mm dropper post? They are such good bikes, hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine :)

Took the Mount Vision out for a nice relaxing ride this evening. It doesn't really like nice relaxing rides, it spent the whole time telling me to pedal harder 😂 Wasn't going to happen today, next time I might have to pick a different bike for pootling around looking at the scenery!

Should be a great bike for that purpose! In that case all you really need to do is eliminate excessive pedal bob (as above) and you're good to go!

Oh yeah, and I'd second the advice above to stick with 3x9 - personally I prefer this to 1x11, and it's much cheaper!

What do you want to achieve with the rear shock? If there's currently too much bob / it feels inefficient and squishy, you could try putting a bit more pre-load on the spring by tightening the collar that holds it in place (this makes it a tiny bit less responsive, but will be fine if the rear...

That sounds nice!!! 3x9 XTR would tick the dream build spec for me very nicely as far as the drive train is concerned. Don't be swayed by the 1x crowd! 😂 Personally I'd really want a dropper post. I know it adds a little weight, but it's so worth it if it's going to get ridden as it should...
