Interesting! That is exactly what it looks like! I think I might have to strip ff the paint and polish up the alloy!

I just bought this frame as a project. It was listed as a Zaskar but I don't think it is and at the price I paid I doubt it very much. It has the flat end plate but no serial numbers on the dropout. It also has a strange "scalloped" downtube. Any ideas.

Looking at that frame, I would say that it is almost identical to mine. The lugs, the forks, the braze ons on the top tube, all looks right.

I must say I am pleased that my recent find has led to so much discussion. It seems that Carltons were quite a mixed bag by all accounts.

I just read this from another thread. It seems some Competitions do have Zeus dropouts. From KingComp

Aren't the lugs a bit plain for a 1950s Carlton? What about the frame makes you think it is earlier? It may not be the original fork I suppose.

I will have to strip it to do that but it feels reasonable lightweight.
