Help with I'D Mystery 1950s Fancy Lug frame

Re: Nice frame - and my size too! Gillott would've been my thought too. Any sign of drilling for a head badge? I wonder if there are any clues under the paint?

Ellis Briggs NOT gone into liquidation

Re: As much as it pains me to say it, I'd recommend going straight to Bob Jackson. I got my Ellis Briggs resprayed via EB and it was 6 months before I got it back - never heard from them once in all that time (I called repeatedly and got excuses). Being charitable, I would say they seem like...

    R.A. Blackwell cycles, Hackney.

Someone's listed a nice looking mid-50's RA Blackwell on eBay. Not a maker I'm familiar with and there almost zero only information online. The shop was at 419 Hackney Road, E2. Which is local enough to me to get me interested. Anyone able to provide any insight? ..Sadly the sight is now a new...

Frame ID and first project assistance

Re: Nice. I'd say mid-50s based on the fish-tail Nervex lugs and oil port on the headtube (the nipple that looks like a pump peg - it'll be brass under the paint - is there another under the BB?). I'm sure it's a quality frame but hard to tell what make as a lot of builders used those lugs. Any...

Real selling/purchase price for vintage steel bikes in 2018?

Re: I think prices have generally dropped quite heavily over the last 18 months or so. Hetchins, flying scot, mercian, etc. Seem to have held their prices but factory marques (say a 531 framed Raleigh) and less prestigious makes say Ribble or a Harry Hall go for very little (around £100). 2...

John Thompson of Loggerheads Road bike

Re: Can't help with any builder information. I had that bike in my eBay watch list at the start of the year (I had half a mind to get it for my son but decided it was far too nice for him!) So as it's still not sold you might be able to get the price down a bit.

    Ellis Briggs Frame Number Thread

Re: I'm fairly sure they still have the order books and info. They emailed me a scan of the order for my frame pretty promptly last year. But I'm not the person I dealt with originally (Elana) is still there. Because after i dropped off my frame for a respray the communication wasn't great. If...

Anybody near Leeds that could pick up a frame for me?

Re: Hi Jamie, can't help with the pick up but it might be worth post on the West Yorks area forum: viewforum.php?f=31 That's how I got my condor shipped from Pickering. A very kind soul picked it up and packed it. I organised the courier (and a thank you box of beers).

    60cm steel bike

I've offered to help sort a friend out with a decent vintage still bike. I'm thinking 70s/80s with a full 531 or similar frameset, mid range groupset. Mudguard eyes ok but nothing to tourer-ish. Tidy paint work. He's a 6 footer so something around 60cm aka 23 1/2". Budget is around £200...
