Bottom bracket size advice please? am going CRAZY!

Yeah I realised it was dodgy - but knew for sure at least that the chainrings on both Shimano and RF cranksets are seemingly identically spaced when I compared side by side. The RF set (original) that I removed was shifting perfectly with the front mech still set as is when was on the middle...

Bottom bracket size advice please? am going CRAZY!

Oh no! Cross-posted but just saw this. Ok - I fitted a 68/118 with the M572 and chainring was against the chainstay so tight I couldn't fully tighten the crank without bending the chainring/scoring the chainstay. So (may be a stupid question)how would an extra 3mm on the spindle give me enough...

Thanks Obi-Wans! Really am a very grateful retrobiker. 126mm it is. (Front mech is frame-clamped btw.)

Bottom bracket size advice please? am going CRAZY!

Please Obi Wan, you're my only hope... Giant XTC 2.5 (2007). Need to spec a bottom bracket! 68mm shell on bike. When I bought this bike it was stock spec: ie 3x9 (Race Face Ride XC crankset with a 68 x 113 RF SRX (Isis) BB but BB was knackered so decided to go hollowtech/Octalink route...

1 x Shimano BB-ES51 (68x118mm) £15 posted 1 x Shimano BB-ES30 (68x113mm) £11 posted Both unused. Note: There is only one (nylon) non-drive-side retaining cup so am including that with the ES51. Assume most people would reuse their old one after binning the old cartridge :)

    2016 Genesis Vagabond monstercross/adventure bike

Agreeed wicket, they are. Am only selling in order to re-fund a 'one bike' solution following long-term lifting injury I've decided an MTB will be more useful for the foreseeable. Shame, but that's how the chips fell. Someone buy it, save me going the fleabay route. Still on shop tyres and...

    2016 Genesis Vagabond monstercross/adventure bike

Medium frame size. Mjölnir double-butted cromoly frameset. Stock components (Deore 2x10 w bar-end shifters, Spyre cable discs, 29x2.1 WTB Nanos) Hardly ridden since bought owing to injury so in VGC, still on original tyres with plenty of tread. Very few marks to paint, all-round VGC...

    FS 1994 Diamond Back Ascent

Time to shift one more shed-denizen. Marked this one as 'easy restoration project' and selling as such. It's a nice starter for someone, and I need it gone as I'm off MTBing for foreseeable and really could use the space. Diamond Back Ascent True Temper AVR double-butted cromo tubing 19"...

    this weeks pic up

Noice! Funny, I've been looking at old Diamondbacks this week. They definitely had/have a certain presence and air of no-nonsense quality. Think I used to drool over a shiny steel Axis: 10kg?

In what decade does 1998 become 'retro'?

So 'retro' is forever going to be pre-1998, while the 'middle bit' just gets wider? Nah, my middle-bit is just getting wider ;)

In what decade does 1998 become 'retro'?

Was just thinking. Dangerous at 7am  And is it 'what decade' or 'which decade'? More or less coffee required

Ritchey Logic threadless headset (or parts of, i.e. seal)

Doing up my dad's 1998 Ritchey Logic Nitanium Rockhopper but the headset was stiff as. Turns out it may have been unexpertly disassembled at some point. I may have helped in this process! Headset seal was already mangled tho, and not quite sure if it's put together correctly. Looking for...
