Wanted Want bike - Rigid frame main requirement, looking to pay 80-120 + postage

Hmmm :). I presume it is a 7 speed (is it cassette or freewheel?) but @Tootyred told me not to buy one and hold out for an 8 speed. Does this get your blessing @Tootyred?

Wanted Want bike - Rigid frame main requirement, looking to pay 80-120 + postage

Thank you for the consideration. The gearing looks high for me though, is that only 2x? I want a 20/22 crankset though I could get one separately maybe...but seems like quite a bit needing to change for £150 out the gate. Not saying it is not good VFM just wondering if better to look for one...

    Are these bikes good?

How is this one? Main issue is will it take thick enough wheels for gravel riding/light off-roading? https://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/specialized-sirrus-sport-24-speed-bike-full-working-order-quality-bike/1485340096...

    Are these bikes good?

So do you have a spare rigid kona frame/forks? I can transfer the rest from this current bike I have. I can then just source another crankset and other odd parts myself.

The picture the saracen looks like a tiny inner ring? 24t or even 22t.

    Are these bikes good?

Yes but only 50 quid so I can buy the parts it lacks. Sugino crank and granny and the 7 sprocket is probably already 30 or 32 on it giving a nice low gear after granny.

Wanted Want bike - Rigid frame main requirement, looking to pay 80-120 + postage

Thanks, I don't know what is respectable. I don't know a BSO from a decent bike so defer to other members and/your own opinion. I just know what I am generally looking for but don't know anything about good and bad bikes or parts. I see not full bikes though and not in the UK? In which case...

    Are these bikes good?

Great and for the price can't go wrong really provided they will post it, which they said they wouldn't but we'll see if they can be persuaded. With the leftover change could buy other parts if needed.

    Are these bikes good?

They say in the description that it is not original forks. How about his one for only 50? https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1992-saracen-tufftrax-elite-17-5%E2%80%9D-ctoc-needs-tlc-%C2%A350-in-merseyside-nw-england.483410/#post-3626734 I have parts on my British Eagle BSO so I could...

Hi, I am interested but not close, can't you consider in your heart to post? I will sort the courier if it helps. It also has the nice chubby thumb shifters I like. What size is granny? Looks nice and small (what I am looking for).

Wanted Want bike - Rigid frame main requirement, looking to pay 80-120 + postage

I want a 'respectable' 90er MTB. I don't know specs so be kind and graceful and show me the way. Rigid frame a must as want to make it specialized hill climber. Will lower the gears to suit once a good frame has been gotten. Oh and I am size 5' 10" so whatever would suit this height. Only...

    For Sale 1992 Raleigh peak

Ty, is this one of the Raleigh frames where they glued different metals together rather than welding, which I read was the case for Mtrax 1000 range and in some causes caused the frame to fall apart for some while riding!? Will 17" frame be sufficient for a 5' 10" gentleman?
  13. R

    Are these bikes good?

Hmm, some troubling comments that the Raleigh is low end and even the dreaded term BSO is thrown its way. I already have a BSO, my British Eagle! That is what I am wanting to step up from! No sense buying another BSO. So is the Clockwork more highly regarded in that sense? Please I require...

    For Sale Raleigh MTrax 1000L

Hi, not much info on the parts. How many teeth on front and back (smallest front, biggest back). Is it freewheel or cassette type? What is the issue you speak of with the gripshift? Ty.

How hard (moreso costly) is it to put a modern drivetrain on a vintage mtb?

https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/raleigh-mtrax-1000l.479954/ Is this bike good? Raleigh is respected or not and good parts? I read mixed that Raleigh used to be seen as good until by the numbers mass producted, similar to British Eagle? So was that still during their good era?
