Today's Ride

Mrs Winjohn decided that we should be out riding on Easter Sunday at 7.00am. I checked the weather app as we left the house, "5 °c feels like 0c" Brrrrrrrrr.
A blast of air straight from the Artic seemed to be in our faces most of the ride but the sun felt warm on my face, one of my favourite words "apricity", which seemed oddly appropriate this morning in April as we were cycling by the city.

Spotted this rather nice looking bike on the way back...looked Italian but no idea.

I'd decided to ride my rebuilt Spa Audax which fely very sprightly with the Ultegra carbon wheels I've fitted, it's rapidly becoming one of my favourite bikes to ride on the tarmac.

A nice sunny day again today. The temp has gone back up again after a couple of days of slightly lower temps, a beautiful day, a bit warm for a ride but the breeze was just enough to cool you down if you were moving.

Only a short ride today, after a twinge in my knee the other day, found an old knee support so tried it out, helped and was able to ride so all good.

Lots of dog walkers out today, as expected, warm sunny weather along with bank holiday brings them all out. It does make me wonder about the poor dogs ther rest of the time though.

singletrack day. ;) 1/3 of it is abandoned, felt like I was Daryl Dixon on an MTB :D the other 2/3 is ok, well maintained and kept me busy not to bother taking pics. :D

I was keen to get out for a ride today as I am busy for the next two days. The sun was gone and the wind was chilly but it died down bit from yesterday (15C but felt like 10C) but I always have a smile on my face riding this thing :) 15km around the park and a quick stop to watch the screaming people on the tall ride at the funfair that arrives every Easter.

I went reasonably early and was leaving as the Sunday influx of people were coming in, so it was well timed. A lovely ride and some notes for some minor adjustments to the bike 😉

Very changeable weather here today -- started sunny with patchy cloud and soon there was rain, on and off in short bursts. Set out mid-afternoon on the Jake and almost immediately realised worse weather was on the way, with a dark shelf of cloud to the north emanating grumbling thunder.

Within a few minutes heavy raindrops started to fall, accompanied by a lot more thunder -- quite loud and drawn-out peals of it. I turned off onto a dirt road, did a quick, challenging climb and doubled back home with more thunder providing a good motivator. I think it was mostly cloud-to-cloud but didn't fancy being frazzled by the one and only cloud-to-ground strike of the day.

So, a rather damp, muddy and chilly ride, but mostly a short ride at 11km and a modest 145m climbing, including a pleasing PR on that dirt-road segment. Home now with tea and cake, listening to that thunder.
