Single colour powder or ceramic is about £70-100.

Yeah that's around the price my local powder coaters BettaBlast charge, that Explosif was £120 for the F&F's, stem and bars for that special colour,i think i'll leave the expensive bike painter to do the Vulcan when that's ready because that's a no expense spared job for that because it has to be perfect.

I can understand your dilemma with the Hot because of what it is i'd be the same and taking my time on the colour choice, what year is your Hot from?

Saying you've mentioned the Kona Hot i think i need to update my wanted add for Explosifs and Kilaueas to include the Hot and Hei Hei. They're the two i really need at the Kona sanctuary oh and Steve Peats Kona (Verlicchi) full sus dh race bike to go with his Explosif. I spoke to someone on here ages about it and they said they had the opportunity to buy it one time and in there own words regrettably didn't So at least i know it's out there somewhere, where though,who knows
My collection will never be complete until i could own that bike,i'd love the Hei Hei he raced on in 94 but saying he still owns it i don't think i'll ever get that chance lol so the next best thing would be the Verlicchi.

Note to anyone reading this,if your reading this and going i've got that bike. Then over here,Peatys biggest fan is waiting with cash ready

For me on a Kil I’d go single colour

My Hot is a 96 but was repainted in 98 so has 98 decals.

I’m leaning towards a candy red with 96 decals in silver or gold.

Do you have a Ku too?

No Ku in the collection do they even exist lol i'd love a 95 Ku in the collection though.

The Hot would certainly look good in that colourway but it's to close to the 95 Explosif colours for me. I wouldn't want people coming up going is that a 95 Explosif and then having to explain that it's a 96 Hot etc lol
With it being a Hot and custom built and more special i'd want it in a more unique colour, so it's a more stand alone look.
That's just my opinion on how i'd paint a Hot if i was lucky enough to get one but i always say go with your own gut feeling what you think is right because after all it's your bike

Hit me with any ideas as I’m totally open to most things. I’ve ruled out trying to replicate stars/bars or Rasta purely as it would annoy me if it wasn’t perfect.

The issue with Kona is they did such a vast array of colours so it’s hard to make it different. I actually like its current colour but the decals are wrong.

Two Ku's you must have the only ones in the UK lol they both look lovely.
That's some collection of lovely looking GT bikes you have there, i'm guessing your a big fan lol The anodised aqua green Zaskar is my favourite of those GT's it just looks perfect

Regarding the Hot it actually looks spot on in that colour i really like it and with the 96 decals it would look really good. What's your plan though,rigid or suspension forks?
If i was going suspension I'd keep that colour and go with some Rockshok Judy XC's or the Marzocchi XC 600's both being gold so a great match to the blue.
But if i was going rigid forks then i'd be having a full respray F&F's in the same colour and possibly the stem. Colourwise because i'd be wanting to have my own one of one Hot i'd definitely be going a special flip colour in the lines of what i did with my 93 Explosif, i never get bored of looking at that and how it's so light dependent in what colour shows up it looks amazing.

I think I’m going with a 96 Z2 on the Hot (or maybe a P2 )
