1995 Kona Explosif

Next thing I shouldn’t of tired as I was planning to sell them…m950 brifters and v-brakes.

Not sure if another colour on the bike is a good thing? Any feeling either way appreciated 🫡

Collected the front wheel from the LBS and happy with the spoke tension. Bought the wheels years ago as a set with the front hub flange having broken on 4 spokes holes. I sourced a NOS hub about 6 months ago and kept it as a spare set for my Diamondback TT. Loving the black rims/hubs as it seems to make the paint colour the centre of focus.

Hoping the Thompson stem arrives tomorrow, then its a hunt for a Raceface chainset or possibly a M950 to match the brakes/brifters. Decisions decisions!

rode the bike to help a friend work on his Mk1 MR2 and it just so happened to have some nice moody lighting…so photos taken.

Installed the Thompson stem and really happy with it. Took a few hours but it really suits the build.

Waiting (excited) for a raceface crank to arrive which I will need to get power coated. Going to try silver rings and see what it looks like. Taken off the XTR vbrakes as I can’t deal with another colour being involved. Shifters can stay though as they are along way from the red (burgundy) frame.

Other part I’m trying to achieve is the catalogues weight of 23.1lb with the P2 fork. Unfortunately mine aren’t triple butted so I’m thinking of how to make that happen, but also bought a titanium BB to help get it down. Currently on exactly 24lb as is.

Lastly burgundy OURY grips or black ODI?

Thanks to @al i now have a Raceface crankset that needs a colour change but is something I will enjoy sorting. Like wise thanks to @highlandsflyer I have a triple butted fork to play with and also paint black.

First proper off road ride and the 19 inch frame and 80mm stem really suits it/me. Really nice to ride and plan to ride the triple butted and single fork back to back to see if I can feel a difference.

Bike looks splendid. Nice day for it eh? I went out yesterday morning. Quick spin up'dale before I took mum out for the day.

Did you get round to a write-up on your post removal? I really need to do one and I'm curious on any pointers you'd have.

Yes lovely day! Found it hot on the climbs and lucky I had a few layers on with the down hills.

No I haven’t done a write put, but I will. Start that tonight 👍

Ought to shove this in 'Today's Ride' as well!
