A code is for the model, for example my 1991 Timberline is A6. Based on the color, Groove tube, and replaceable hanger my guess is the 1993 Richter 8.0, it came in red. Kingoffootball has the A codes in their database so should be able to confirm which model

Love the color on this bike! Are you sure it's a '91? I think the Hoo Koo was only the elevated chainstay design in 1992, although yours could have a '91 production serial. Also, 91 should be SunTour parts and '92 is Deore DX/XT. That looks like a Deore RD to me!

The 1990 Timberline came in gloss red, I'm pretty sure this is an example of it: I don't think there was any white colorway for the Timberline until the Daktari White one in 1992. White could very well be a primer paint. My guess is the real color is the one seen on your steerer tube, which...
