This is from bicyclerollingresistance.com RH 44mm tire vs. other 40mm tires. Even at low pressure the fastest tire there.. Jan Heine disagrees with their testing method. He prefers his own method, bike with rider, on an actual road (downhill). Flat and bumpy.

So 3 days in the RH sealant/Latex combo is rideable at 26psi from 40# start. The expected 4-5 psi/day loss for this setup. Not great, but not horrible either. A useful improvement in air retention, and if the link above is true as good as it gets for flat prevention and sealing. I actually...

For long rides at 71yo the Ebike is used. On my 2ndary use XC bike 500 miles might take a while. Also it's pretty gentle use in my case.

I found a discussion on this, about various sealants and latex tubes. It seems there are a few people working on this. https://forum.slowtwitch.com/t/what-sealant-are-you-using-in-your-latex-tubes-and-how-has-it-worked-for-you/759897 Caffelatex has a good rep. there, but didn't work for my...

DH racers at MTBR will never use his tires. I mean if coasting down mountains is what cycling is all about so be it. But XC racers, CX racers, and anyone using the MTB format for commuting, or touring will benefit from this. The other day I was following someone 1/2 my age on a 29" MTB. I waited...

TPU definitely holds air better. Latex is supposed to be puncture resistant But I've had a wire long enough to go through a Tannus liner on the Ebike, so now sealant and Tannus there. I'm in Urban South Florida. Cleanr than inner city areas, but anything can happen around here. And now there's...

The RH sealant is working so far. A week from now I'll know more about the water/ Latex situation. I suppose some people may wonder why I'm doing all this. https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/specials/schwalbe-one-tubeless-clincher The performance of the lightest RH tires comes from being...

His tire tech is feeding back into road racing (where it came from) in larger sizes. It's probably going to do the same thing in CX, and XC as it did in Gravel Racing. I don't do any of those things. At my age (71) I don't ride fast enough for aero to be a big concern anymore. But fast rolling...

One type of flat that sealant is particularly good for are slow leaks (as in more than one) caused by small wires in the road from blown truck tires. You can't see them, you don't know where they are to avoid them. They get stuck in flat prevention tires, and poke holes again. With sealant you...

On this bike butyl without sealant would probably be OK. The sealed tubes thing has been so good on the urban Ebike I want to see if I can get that on a lighter bike. If you want to be more specific about TPU problems I'd like to hear it. Sealed TPU now that the sealant exists will probably be...

OK one more time. the Rene HERSE TPU tube in the front tire is just sitting there laughing at all of this. Polished Metal stem, removable core. Efetto Mariposa metal stem cap with core removal fitting. But I screwed that up with latex sealant too... I want tubes, and I want sealant. Sooooo- Rene...

This is the glue issue I'm having. Since gravel racing tires don't have reflective sidewalls, and I'm running disc brakes with the UB (universal brake) '04 Mavic Crossrides I used the brake surface for reflective tape. 24 Bladed spokes, and actual eyelets on the original version.

I broke down the tire today. No sealant leakage. The tube was deformed at the spoke holes next to the valve stem. 2 layers of plastic tape on one side of the valve to avoid 2x layers at the stem hole., one layer on the other. The tire was dry inside, no leaked sealant to clean up. But also no...

I always use metal automotive stem caps on Schraders. They seal with an O ring and you can hear a puff if the stem is leaking. Some for trucks have a stem core tool on the end. I destroyed a TPU looking for a slow leak. Ballooned it out trying to make the leak bigger. I have 2 more Aircomps on...

Looking at Sckwalbes site, they offer a heavy duty TPU tube for MTB with Schrader, and another with Presta that's apparently lighter. They refuse to offer Latex tubes at all. They say the Latex tube needs to be replaced every time the tire is dismounted. Nobody advertised that factoid before...
