A simple sling to shoulder carry the axe, giving a hands free to carry of the wood or perhaps use the sling to bundle and hold the wood for carry, it gives options either way.

Something to cover the edge and aid carry to the job at hand. Leather always works for this sorta thing and fits the aesthetic.

Picked up a handle, tweeked it a little, made some wedges, due to the how the head opened at the handle a simple one wedge would leave some gaps, so five wedges seemed best.

Used some Birchwood Casey gun blue to black the axe head.

Round thingys in a piller drill and slowly work the axe head curves for not bad results.
