Sold Marin Bear Valley 1991 - complete original bike, 19" frame with grey Zolatone paintwork

Quick one about frame size. So it's 19" centre to centre, which means it's 21.5" centre to top? Is that correct? Please confirm as I'm interested. Where are you located? Thanks

    I know it's as desirable as f***

I’ve been looking for a nice retro MTB for my wife to use as tourer on our forthcoming holiday. I’ve been to see several and very nearly bought one but they’ve all been heavily used dogs tbh. So, with time running out, I decided to do up the old family hack, a 7005 alu Radford (Claud Butler) MTB...

First post and advice sought ..

The Dawes Galaxy turned out to have had a hard old life, a real dog in fact, so I decided to do up the family hack instead as Im runnning out of time to get my wife a comfortable tourer for our forthcoming trip, and its looking rather good with its sprinkling of NOS parts :)

    1992 Raleigh Apex

I bottled out of the 31yr old Apex in the end, I'm afraid, and bought a 10yr old barely used flat bar Dawes db chromo Galaxy. Heavy as hell but fully loaded with guards, rack and panniers and a great fit for my wife. Spent a fair bit more but none of the componentry - nor the wheels - needs...

First post and advice sought ..

Decided against the 31 yr old Raleigh Apex in the end and have bought a ten year old flat bar version of the Dawes Galaxy, with double butted 4130 frame and average Shimano components, incl discs. It's not a pretty bike and a heavy old thing but it's had virtually no use at all and comes with...

    Question for Saracen connoisseurs

Thanks Starting to wonder whether parting with £50 or so for this frameset is such a good idea after all 😐

    Question for Saracen connoisseurs

Thanks for your advice, I'll take a look at the catalogues. I would only be buying the frameset to make up a bike for everyday use using non-original parts, so no attempt to make any money. One odd thing is that it has a loose bearing old style BB. I hadn't realised that manufacturers were...

    Question for Saracen connoisseurs

I have an opportunity to pick up a Saracen Hardtrax frameset locally in retro purple/lilac. The frame is made from 5098 series Tange MTB cromoly butted main tubes, which is a new one to me. Any good? Worth investing in as a project? Many thanks

    Youngs 531 step-through restoration

Its not strictly a road bike but it certainly isnt an MTB. A hybrid prototype, I guess? My wife bought this bike in the early 1980's from a shop in South London called Youngs. When we went to choose the bike, they didn't have the one we wanted in the right size so they built it for us from...

    1992 Raleigh Apex

The bike I'm picking up next week has seat stays which are attached to a seat tube/top tube lug, which I believe Raleigh stopped doing on later models? Can you date the bike from this, approximately?

    1992 Raleigh Apex

For the benefit of a complete newbie about to pick up an Apex as a touring project for my wife, could you tell me what the differences are between the Ravine, Peak and Apex moels? Are the framesets identical (ie all K2?), with differences limited to components and colours? Many thanks ;)
