Should make a really fun trails bike! I had a GT Chucker years ago that filled a similar role, not quite small enough for the pump track but definitely smaller than you'd want for long XC rides - it was great fun in the woods!

Sounds like I'm more or less on the right track with what I'm *trying* to do on the little transition jump. Just need to get enough reps in that it's no longer intimidating to give it a bit of pop rather than sucking it up.

Any of the rockshox early 2000s forks with motion control damping (recon, reba, Tora) would be ideal. They pop up cheap on FB marketplace fairly regularly, and are easy to service at home if you need to. That's what I'd be looking for if it were mine.
