Thanks guys. Some nice stuff but not quite what I was after.
For now I have sort of repurposed one of my clockworks for this role - I had a set of F7 forks on another bike which has now been stripped down.
I’d probably still be tempted by the right thing but should try to hold off any...
I probably spend at least as much time building and tinkering as I do riding, but you know what, no guilt at all.
Fiddling with old bikes is probably the most relaxing thing I do, and sometimes it's even useful. It also stops me buying any brand new bikes, which is definitely a good thing...
I've had a look and they're not there any more. Shimano did a V-brake compatible 7 speed STI in Acera and Alivio spec - both decent enough, IMO

Frame has marks and scratches a plenty but is sound and straight.
Easton monkey bars ditto.
Wheels and tyres show signs of wear and age but were being ridden...
Paisley freight is £40, a box is £5, total would be £220. Insurance against damage would cost extra… Payment via PayPal friends and family.
Send a PM if you want it and we’ll get the details worked out. 😀
Idiot that I am I just bought a set to see if they’re any good! Seem quite versatile and well thought out actually, lots of options for mounting. Not sure whether I’ll use them as I already have a surplus of mudguards but these look like they might be a good option for bikes that lack the proper...
