Thank you both, not overly fussed about completely period correct stuff on this particular build. I think I’ll look out for the least trashed retro Z2s and go from there.
Hello,
I left the MTB scene in the late 90s and loved my old Bomber Z2s…
I’m now building up a 2001 Kona for some mid-life single track.
Bomber forks from ~2000 have a different ‘one piece’ arch design.
Was this new design stronger/stiffer? Somehow better?
Or should I stick to the old...
Thanks for the posting, appreciated and the Alivio looks near mint.
Afraid I’m looking for something more ‘LX’ and above.
Thanks again, pricing is more than fair too
Hello,
I’m after good quality chainset for my Kona Explosif.
Sugino, Shimano, Suntour etc. all considered.
Most stuff I can see on eBay of this era is ££ or needs 3 new chainrings (!).
175 mm ideally
Thanks
Wow, I never realised they were such a cult item.
Ok, ok I’ll try some Shimano thumbies on it. Guess Dx or XT
Love the 93 catalogue extract. The cynical me adds a final line… and they are cheaper.
I’m rebuilding a purple 1992 (?) Kona Kilauea.
I want it to be authentic but usable….
Even the Explosif had thumbies in the 1992 catalogue. Surely shifter pods / Sti had caught on by then?
Even my 1992 Raleigh Activator had them.
