I had also noticed the same issue .
I am going to go with a genetic clubman chainset . It has
A 110 bcd I will have to change the 50t outer ring to a 44 .There are plenty available. The inner is a 34 lso that works for me . The design is quite retro so another plus .

Never seen a Simplex mech like that before. Is the dropped pivot home made? Disraeli gears has a facebook page so might be an idea to contact him.

It was an experiment you could change down but not back up. To change up I’d need a triple set up so the middle ring would be around a 54T. The with the 42 I could only use the lowest 3 cogs as Had the moved out for better alignment in low gears so a 10speed cassette became a 6speed.
