@non-fixie I understand about the generic aspect; just thought that having it as a registered trademark might have some greater significance.

I am no specialist in legal matters, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt putting the words "registered trademark" on a sticker has any real significance.

In general it would mean that a particular design cannot be used without permission; especially where it is used to add market value something whether it is used as a generic display or not, and regardless of where is used; i.e. toaster, shovel, toilet, etc.

I'm with you that the decal probably has no direct significance, and is merely "window dressing"; but apparently you needed to pay to use that particular design regardless of meaning.
