Yes really! Thanks to a mate, I now have not just one but two sets of Dura Ace C24 wheels. Great wheels for looks, feel and weight. However, One set is looking a bit tired and the black has come off a lot of the spokes. Not sure what to do about them. I could replace them but would like to just tart them up as they're pretty true.
Any suggestions from those in the know would be greatly appreciated. Said wheels 👇 Dave Yates 853.webp

The black finish on these spokes is an electro "plated" compound, creating a chemical bond iirc.
- I would suspect corrosion has damaged it.
Can you do a close- up?

You can get the spokes to replace the worst, probably around £3 each.

I would imagine though that you could clean them up and try recolouring them where the finish is gone.

I'd suggest asking someone who restores metalwork, but trial and error could well produce fast results.

Its surprising how much improvement can be done with, for example, a black marker pen, or something from an art shop, but it won't be concourse!

A corroded finish is very hard to replicate, or repair.

Thank you. I'll try the marker pen first.
