Some of the paintjobs on these Carreras (not really this one) are really cool. Don't see them around much, were they any good? Here's one below I found on Instagram.

I think Halfords still believed in bicycles in the late 80s, so some of their products were half decent and well designed!

There is another brand Carrera. Not the same, the other Carrera owners get quite upset if you call it a Halfords bike.

The Italian brand - high quality race frames.
The halfords - owned Carrera, i don't think ever made frames. I believe it was set up in house, although as "Carrera" means Race in Italian, its a popular name for a bike - they may have bought the naming rights off a builder.

I would think this e-stay model is made by Saracen.
There might be some design detail differences, but by the mid 90s halfords Carrera frames were mostly standard far- east factory products

I'd love to see further info though, of the uk brand before Halfords

I owned a couple of Katmandu's in the mid 90's with Reynolds 501 frames, nice bikes.
I believe they were 1992 models like this one
