Pretty sure the stocks have now dried up now buying a French gear cable with a Huret nipple on one end a Simplex nipple on the other.

Thankfully, a modern cable can be modified to fit anything from any period. And yes, in true French style, it means removing lard.

Routens always seem to make good money. Not as much as RH though.

It was a student-style bike in terrible state. Quill stem out far enough to split the fork threads, bb in need of adjustment and grease, brake caliper arms so loose the pads could run on the tyre under maximum braking

I thought it might be peugeot- style internal lugs with decorative covers, but it looked like the covers are partially functional, although cheaply made.

Iirc my colleague was realigning the hanger, I persuaded the customer to chuck some money at it in the very near future, as he loved it.

I thought fixing it before it kills you is usually better than after.

The customer was unprepared to (pay to) fix anything else - I just dropped the stem back to min insertion Mark.
I'd have looked at it closer but it was in a stand and I was busy talking, and then it was gone.
The bb lug and seat cluster were standard but I dont think I've ever seen those funny demi-lugs before
