Reynolds 753 tubeset

I seen to remember quite a bit of chrome on the Peugeot 753s, big well respected manufacturer, good think they would know what they were doing?

🤣maybe the French instruction sheet was shorter, or they didn't read it?

Iirc a lot of 753 and other top reynolds frames had cheaper/ tougher stays, and this wasn't always clear on the literature.
Additionally top products often weren't built with an eye on longevity.

Yeah, I remember reading that a lot of big box manufacturers used 531SL or 653 for the forks and stays to cut down on the $$$s cost
 
Some manufacturers had a beefed up down tubes on the basis that this tube takes the most stress over rough terrain or in crashes. Quite a few Italian frames used SPX down tubes, especially larger frames
