Kona seatpost sizes.

I've just got a 91 Lavadome which has been resprayed and also have a 92 Lavadome so i tried the seatpost which is 26.4mm from the 92 bike and it doesn't fit. Can anyone with a 91 Lavadome confirm it takes a 26.2mm seatpost.

Check the seat tube for ovality, especially by nudging the clamping area open a little. Also measure the post - it should indeed be 26.4. There can be some alarming discrepancies to what is nominal though, often 0.1mm.

Most years Lava Dome and Cinder Cone shared the same frame, so I would again start with 26.4.

Probably it's 26.6 nominal with no heat distortion from welding.

This maybe needs it's own thread, but I've a 98 Explosif with a 27.0 Syncros seatpost.

I find it needs to be tightened up quite a bit to make sure there's no slippage under sideways force. Not a silly amount, but more than I expected.

Any advice on this?

Never had a 98 Explosif so can't help if 27.0mm is the correct size or not but the 93 Explosifs i have are 27.0mm and can do the same thing because it's very common on alot of Konas for the seatpost to slip even if you have the correct size seatpost.
