So, while we (probably mostly me to be fair) await the opportunity start building the klunker up with the bits I ACTUALLY want, I figured I'd give you a rundown of what these bits actually are.
So, thanks to great input from brother Woz, I filed down the headset tool which allowed me knock the shite out of the cups to assess head tube sizing. I had near given up and allowed the drink to consume me. Brother Mickey then volunteered for beer-provisions to make me a custom headset. That means we will be penetrating this fecker with 1 1/8 of hard steel rather than just the 1". Poor bugger. I've got a black Kona P2 on my Rockhopper which will be offered up for the klunkmachine. 410mm a2c, which lifts my front end about 10-ish mm. Perfect.
Next is the seatpost. Who invented seat guts? Would someone pull out his guts? What a useless system. Sorry, I'm sure some of you love it (psychos)
The answer to that particular conundrum is a visit to the holy grail of gear2win which has lovely PROPER seatposts in the correct diameter. Meet the soon-to-be ass perch rod.
Next up is the problem of stems... What'll we do? Well Kleinanzeigen is a magical place where 99.9 percent of the time I'm being told to bugger off because I don't speak the language of the chosen people, and then once in a while, a rare gesture of goodness and kindness comes my way. And some German, probably named something very German, says to me:
Yes, I will ship this to you! And I remind them of the war, hoping to get a discount.
Well, I found me a very nice stem which looks like it's been molested with an anglegrinder and I instantly thought: klunk! klunk! klunk!
It's on its way. Look!
New bolts and it's ready for the bars. The bars will be some proper cheap MX steel bars which I reckon will do just BEAUTIFULLY.
