Hello and welcome to the very first Retrobike Rides Newsletter. Each month we aim to enlighten you of all the goings on around the country that have occurred in the previous month and let you know what’s going on in the coming month. Ridebike Rides have now been going strong for many years. At first these involved a couple of dodgy looking characters in lurid lycra meeting up in the woods to ride their retro pride and joys. Following discussion, we've very reluctantly taken the decision to POSTPONE the ride next Monday and give as much notice as possible so that people could alter their plans. This was not an easy decision to arrive at as the Turkey Twizzler is a very well established and attended event. Although we recognise that weather forecasts are often unreliable, Cannock is supposed to have 4 inches of snow on Monday and never be above freezing between now and then so the riding could be a challenge but it was the getting there and back, with some people travelling vast distances, that was the key concern. We're hoping to arrange a slightly surreal festive Turkey Twizzler in February, date to be confirmed. Ok, off to cancel the caterers...
Everyone likes Old School and none more so than Retrobike and Morvélo Bicycle Apparel. Fat Tire Flyer was the original mountainbike magazine co-founded in 1980 by one of the pioneers of Mountain Biking Charlie Kelly. Retrobike and Morvélo liked it some much they got in contact with Charlie Kelly to see if they could run a limited edition t-shirt of it. Not only did he say yes, but he also re-scanned in the cover of the original for them to use. His fee? "Just make sure you send me one of the t-shirts!" he...
