XTR Hub FH-M900 Dissasembly

Hello,

I tried to service this M900 rear hub but the whole thing seems wrecked. The ribbed part of the freehub body fell apart and i'm left with the inner part (see pic).
How do i remove it ?

Thanks

On another note : is the freewheel body alloy ? I'm having the hardest of times to remove the lockring (steel) and i'm wondering wether i could be facing some galvanic corrosion seizure...

The freehub bodies themselves are not normally taken apart, just taken off the hub as a whole.
Servicing is normally done by just grease squirted in from the back seal, or if lucky through a special tool they made.
It's all steel not aluminium as far as I know, not until M950 did they make it a bit lighter. So i'm not sure which part you are talking about.

Thanks FC.
Yes i was asking about the material of the freehub body's ribbed part, where the cassette sits. The cassette lockring is so hard to unscrew i was wondering about corrosion between lockring and hub thread.
I tried everything i could (penetrating oil, cheater bar etc) but my chainwhip finally snapped. I ended up dismantling the freehub (as pic shows) to stick it in a vise, unfortunately mine is too small / too light.

Any method to unlock it that i didn't think of ?

And yes it's definitely 10mm :)

Re:

Cassette bolt
Stick allenkey in a vice/workbench gap/imagination to hold it
use whole wheel if still there to turn it.
(for freehub from hub)

---

similar for cassette locking (disc holding cassette onto freehub)
both should be steel for m900 unless the locking has been changed for a light weight. I guess not as it would probably have snapped, cut off by now.
Tool in vice, clamp etc.
OR clamp the cassette and use a decking long wrench on the tool.
If the tool doesn't have a location rod but a hole, bolt iit through.

If it is knackered anyway, buy a new freehub body. you don't need the XTR one, better would be a new Compact style one so 11T fit a bit easier.

Any pictures of the cassette ?

All else fails, swear a lot, hit the locking with a big hammer and come back at a later date.

Did a lot of that already  though i'm not totally hopeless yet, just need a new hub as you suggest.
Here are pics of the cassette, it's steel and could be high end - let me know if you can ID it !

Thanks again for the advices !

Re:

I still don't quit know how you pulled the freehub body apart when you haven't taken the cassette off. Manly as the bearing/notches to remove it are down behind that lockring.

It's not a high end cassette, looks like a newer mid range cassette? Anyone, I recognise the style but don't know the model.
