WTD: 1" threaded steerer tube ideally titanium

Hi,

Am seeking to shave some weight off my bike and having recently removed the forks to grease the headset am amazed at how heavy the current steel steerer tube is. Does anyone have an uncut 1" titanium threaded steerer tube that they would part with?

The bike is an Orange VitT2 with Pace RC35 forks as shown here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... hlight=vit

Since those photos have been riding it like mad through all weathers and wearing components out well. Therefore have already replaced with the lightest available:

• stem = now a 1" titanium one I got of ebay
• saddle = now flite slr
• post = now USE carbon
• brakes = now Vbrakes
• wheels = now Mavic crosstrail
• mech = now xtr and 27spd
• + new headset and bb.

But despite all that I can tell that it is still overweight on the forks and cranks. I love the forks and so am not going to change them (recently put in new elastomers, seals and grease) but thought I'd see if I can get a lighter steerer tube. It is a 1" tube fitted into the fork crown with a shim to match the 1&1/8" crown.
If I can't find one does anyone know where I could a titanium one made?

Speed reading this, I thought you said

That'd be weight saving to the max! :shock:


That is a fine looking bike though.

Thanks to Dave_H for the compliment about the bike. I keep wondering if I am wasting my time trying to make the VitT2 any lighter given the monstrous weight of the forks but it is still cheaper than buying a new bike and it is great to ride!
