...stop the car, jump out and run after the 100yr old (ish) man riding a totally stock 1998/9 Klein Pulse Pro in the opposite direction in slow motion style in order to offer to buy it off him?

"I'll give you £100 for it and even drop you off at Halfords - you can get one of those full suspension bikes which'll be nice and comfy for £70!"

I did this once. About 4 years ago, I saw a totally mint Barracuda I always had my eye on, but never thought I'd ever see up close, just riding down the street as I walked out of the office for the day.

I hesitated a second and then ran full sprint after the guy, meeting him at a stoplight. Out of breath, I asked him if he'd consider selling. He looked quite annoyed and just shook his head. I offered him $600.00 on the spot (for an already 7 year old bike) and still, shook his head. I handed him a business card and asked he call me should he change his mind.

I stopped waiting by the phone a few nights ago..
