 just an observation, it seems there are no retro treks on here...........................or have I just missed them all :?:

there were loads of them around in 91/92, yet we seem to see more fats/bontragers/konas than treks, do we dislike the brand so much that the thought of having one in the stable makes us shiver :?:

discuss/show me a trek :?

I've thought the same thing........and Giants too?

I remember when I brought my M F Explorer in 1985 (ish) it was a toss up between that, a Giant (who were new kids on the block) or a Rockhopper (couldn't afford a Stumpy!).

Seems their later domination of the mass produced market has put folks off maybe?

My first proper MTB was a Trek 930, sold it a many years ago. Great steel frame let down by cheap components.

My dad has got an absolutley mint Trek 930 (possibly). He washes it after every ride. The colour was described as 'electric plum!' I reckon the one and only non original part on it will be the Flexstem I fitted for him.

Trek ... and Giant as well ;)

most of the high end treks were carbon and aluminum. They are dead. They never really did that much steel which is sad. The old high end aluminum treks were bonded tubes, which doesn't work in the woods. There carbon stuff was really nice but a lot of the early ones didn't have replacable hangers which lead to a early dimise. I loved the looks of those old 8900's though.

It is a bit unusual when you consider how mega popular Kona seem to be.

Seem to recall they did a high end steel frame, the 990 or something. Also be good to see an tricked out OCLV - don't forget these have been around since 93 (ish).

I've actually been looking for a 990 its like they don't exist its wierd, considering how big this company is. They used the high end true temper of the day.
