howdy I thought I would treat myself with my hard earned Christmas bonus to a shiny new Chris King headset for my MTRAX Ti-1000 so had a look on Ebay on my phone found a nice pink one for £68 so paid up and went about my merry way. got home and had a closer look on the lap top and was horrified to find the damn thing was in Taiwan.............too late all paid for and an email from the seller saying it had been sent...so the question is real or fake I've never seen a proper one .....here it is packaging looks naff to me

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

the last king headset I got came wrapped in plastic with the same paper instructions as you have. I've not heard of fake Kings before. It doesnt look fake and I'd have thought making a fake king was quite pricey and the counterfit scum would do something simpler/cheaper to rip off rather than fine m,etal wares like kings.

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

outwardly it looks right, and king packaging has always been basic but it looks like it has the correct paperwork manual as that's what came with them when i was selling them in the trade.

you'll have to wait until it turns up, compare it to the pictures as they may use a real picture but send fakes.

there is a thread somewhere on here with a "how to spot the fake king" guide

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

Agreed with the others. Looks authentic to me. Contact the good folks at CK if you want to confirm. I know they would like to know if there were a rash of fakes entering the market.

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

Anything can be replicated, you should see some of the replica watches that come out of China and Hong Kong.

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

As mentioned - there is a thread on here about fakes.

I have two kings, one came through the trade and the other from that aspire place in the states - I don't think either came in a box ?

Yours looks good on those pics

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

I haven't read the 'fake' thread but I suspect the bearings will be the confirmation you need.

CK make there own with a special seal design, I suspect a copy would have a generic bearing with a generic seal design ?

Re: when is a Chris King headset not a Chris King headset...

If you can snap a pic of the insides so we can see the bearing seals, I think we could get a better guess.
As everyone else has said, from what we can see, the outside looks fine. But it's really the bearing seals that I suspect will give it away.

That said, I haven't read the aformentioned thread either.
