got a couple of frames for another build both orange, evo 2 alloy and a clockwork steel? whatever 1 it will be a daily ride mostly on roads :?

The Clocky would get my vote, on grounds of nicer ride quality and asthetics. I don't remember the Evo 2 being anything special to ride.

For road use steel every time. Says the man with 2 x alu frames that I use on the road regularly.

I've riden Aluminium for the past 10 years (marins, cannondale, merlins), but have just got hold of a 94 lava dome and man alive; steel is something else. It might weigh a little more, but the feel is just so much more natural.

well all my Mountain Cycles are alloy, its the only way to make 'em. BUT my first "best"MTB is my Kona Cindercone which is steel and as a ride all day(maybe on skinny tires?)bike i would go for that.

IMO/E frame material per se has next to nowt to do with "comfort". Geometry, fit, tyres, contact points etc etc all of much more relevance.

Having only ridden one of the two options (the steel one as it happens) I can have no view on the relative merits!
