Whats it worth? Campagnolo Pista & DA 7520 (Pictures)

I have a 2 pairs of nice rims for tubs. Extremely cared for since they belonged to and old danish track rider.

Both are 36H and 700c. They run true and have no brake markings.

Set 1:
Fiamme Red label with Clement tubs.
Set is laced up on Campagnolo Pista hubs(spinning like new) (no record engraving pre-66).

Set 2:
Superchampion Record du Monde with Wolber piste and vittoria tub.
Set is laced up on Dura Ace HB 7520 (spinning like new)pista hubs.

I am going to remove the campa hubs and lace them on clinchers, but i actually dont know what to do with set 2.

I am thinking of reselling the Fiamme rims and the whole set 2. But at what price?

Set 1 sound like a dream set up to me, personally i wouldn't pull them apart, any pictures of the two sets?

If you dismantle the Campagnolo/Fiamme wheels and keep the hubs, you'll be left with a pair of rims that are worth a few quid - Fiammes are two a penny, because they're good rims and an awful lot were sold - and some tubs which may or may not have much life in them. Old tubs are a bit of a specialist taste! Keep the set together and you might get £80-£100 for them, depending on the condition of the tubs. Clement are sought after, but if they are worn or track-specific rubber that won't last half a mile on tarmac, then it's a hard sell.

The other wheels don't have quite the same cachet, although nice enough. I bought a very similar set, with a nice freewheel and good tubs, for £50 just recently. I thought that was fair.

The trouble you have is that the market for these is small and there are loads of them around. Like you, must people ride clinchers these days. Perhaps like me they have a set for Sunday rides which don't do many miles and hence last forever...

I don't think i've ever seen a pair of Fiamme rims with the early red label for sale, coupled with the early Record hubs and Clement tubs, i'd be suprised if you couldn't get double the £80-100.

The market for early track stuff is absolutely huge and regarding the Shimano/Super Champion combination i would have thought £150+

My £50 wheels were obviously a bargain, then!

Of course, everyone wants to buy at the best possible price, and for most of us not buying at all is not a bad option. In general, I think the price actually paid on forum sales is a fair bit lower than the price advertised -- this is why sellers often delete the price when the item is sold.

The best way of finding out what something is worth is to put it on ebay, and for that reason the ebay "completed listings" search is a good guide to value. Unfortunately, it doesn't go back far and so you often don't get enough results. Buit search for sprint wheels and you'll find, for instance, a lovely set of GP4 rims on Record hubs unsold at £45, as well as a Campy SR/Super Champion pair which went for £75 (about £65 in the pocket when all the ebay/paypal fees are paid...)

Anyway, there you have it: I say your market is niche, Unicanitor says it's huge -- you'll never know till you set a price and sell them!

Ill have to go with unicator on this one! Track parts are just rarer and sought after. Yes fiamme were sold in bunches but early red labels with 36h is a rarity compared to ex. 28h etc.
I would also be very surprised if i cant get over 100£ or double amount.
