In the process of restoring my circa 1960 Holdsworth Golden Hurricane, I found the spindle severely pitted. It is to the point where the pedals are very rough to turn, even with sufficient grease.
The crankset is not original. It uses a tapered square rather than the cotter pin arrangement that it would have come with from the factory. I have decided to try and source a cotter pin crankset to be more in keeping with the period of the bicycle. Adverts show that it was shipped with a Williams C34 crank, which I have managed to find, but I cannot find spindles and cups to match. The width of the crankset housing is 2 5/8" or about 67mm.
Can anyone please advise what dimensions I should look for? If anyone has one that is willing to sell a spindle and cups from that era, I am open to offers.
