So taking away all of the kit including the fork was there any difference in the frame alone? I assume the LE was lighter?

Experts please

The sticker...

up until late 90's ones where they got a different drop out, not sure what year, but most of them, only difference is the sticker

That was my suspicion after looking over the 1995 catalog and reading the specs in the back they looked the same

Up through the 95 model year they were the same. Some butting, dropout and seat clamp differences after that. Zaskar was only sold as a complete XT equipped bike (except 91 you could also get it with Suntour XC pro). Zaskar LE was sold full XTR up to 99 or as a frame set through the Tech Shop.

Re: What is the difference between a Zaskar and Zaskar LE fr

I was always led to believe, that the Zaskar was sold as a complete bike, and the LE was a 'Limited Edition' frame only!

Of course i could be wrong (often am) but i remember my mate buying a Zaskar frame in about '97, and that was definately an LE!

MBA mag claimed the LE was US made & stock zasker far east. that said MBA said a lot of stuff that wasnt accurate..

early ones were just spec difference, I believe some later ones had tubing differences.

Might be worth trawling the catalogues?

Think that may have been the case in later years, but up until at least 96 there was no difference.

As GM says above, the Zaskar was an XT build while the LE was XTR. The frame only option was also an L, I brought a Tech Shop frame in 95 and that was an LE

I remember having this debate more then once before. :D

Re: What is the difference between a Zaskar and Zaskar LE fr

I believe, from working in a bike shop in the mid 90s that the LE stands for 'light Edition' rather than 'Limited Edition'. It was only the build spec that was different, the frames were the same.
