Picked this up at a bootfair a few years back...
Thought I'd try and solve the mystery by just getting lucky on Google but no...I'll be stabbing in the dark for ages šŸ˜†

It's a 1 1/4" headset...which kinda dates it I'd imagine around v late eighties or early nineties... absolutely no other clues other than serial number! Forks are nicely finished into dropouts.....
Anyone suggestions ?

The stem that came with it...no makers marks!
Clearly repainted like the fork...so was black also.

Never had forks on an MTB with such little material/wall thickness on steerer tube at crown...seems very thin to me!

And just spotted these on bridges ...presume for mudguards....really! šŸ˜†

Looks very Fuchs, top notch German stuff. A quick google shows a few similar frames with the rear dropout shape in particular being constant through the years.

Not exactly common is a Fuchs!...i doubt my luck at finding one in a random bootfair šŸ˜†.
From what I've been able to find they have box stays...not seen one with tube yet...

They weren't all square stays, some square chainstay & round seatstay too. Its the humpback rear dropouts that stick out the most.

Here's a tube stay example although the dropouts are stamped on this.

Never under estimate a car boot sale, my NOS Ringle Twisters for Ā£1 are a testament:cool:
Of what I've seen do far of Fuchs everything is welded ...all the cable stops and guides...mines not....plus the 1 1/4" headset....I'd like to be lucky tho I sure could do with a bit of that right now šŸ˜†
It's definitely something out of the norm...it was painted at some point as there's little bits of black in the welds and in seat tube aswell as fork steerer....hhmmm

Nice booty bootay...find šŸ‘

The canti bridge and serial number donā€™t match any Fuchs Iā€™ve seen. The screwed on cable guides donā€™t look familiar either. As far as I know only the very earliest frames didnā€™t have the Fuchs emblem stamped into the rear dropouts. I think it looks more like an early Orange? That might fit better with the 1-1/4ā€ head tube too? I do like a good mystery!

Yes canti bridge I clocked that...Fuchs look squished to an ovalised section! There absolutely no markings anywhere...
The serial number is well erm pretty hand done...different size punches and the last digit wasn't good enough so it got done twice šŸ˜†

It's no lightweight that's also surprising....my scales do monkey about at anything over a half a kilo but they are suggesting around 2.1kg which seems stout to me...šŸ¤”
