Phoenix cycles in Eastbourne. I can never go back. The place used to be manned by the most arrogant and ignorant old git ever. I was in there once he slammed some fork elastomers on the counter and told me "they're what you want" er... no! didn't even has suspension at the time. He was never even remotely helpful or even civil to anyone.
In recent years they've shrunk the shop down to half what it used to be. A friend of mine went in and mentioned this in passing conversation and got an earfull for it, the dude had a go as if it was my friends fault and he was directly to blame for they're lack of customers and the shops inability to support the bigger premises. Mad place, shame really because it must be stuffed full of old stuff (still at original silly prices I'd expect though).
HALFORDS or mail order for forcing small shops out of buisness
any one that uses mail should only use it if they know what there doing i hate when customers come into the shop i work in and say i brought this mail order and i cant get it to work (there not regulars) and expect you to fix it them for free when you tell them the labour cost £25 an hour plus vat £4.37 they get really upset and then start getting really angry with you asif your in the wrong when you tell them your a buisness and there to make money and not a charity (i put this over really tackfully) they storm out and then slate you and pay another bike shop to do the work happerns both ways with us and the other shop in town the thing is they get the parts cheap or bikes chap for a reason online ie no warrenty back up or you have to set it up as it arrives boxed some people sorry rant over
