What Bike for the Apocalypse?

I've been thinking ( and am up to my eyeballs on meds ) about the end of the world, like you doand how folks in a lot of that sort of film / book do lots of walking. You'd take a bike wouldn't you?
So, aside from that, assuming you've got yourself a nice little place in the country, stuck a minefield or moat around it and so on, what bike would you use for day to day transport?
You know, scavenging runs or getting out to the fields or hunting grounds?
What would be the survivor's bike of choice?

Knowing my luck the only thing I would be able to find is a Raleigh shopper 3 speed, so walking would be a better option

But if I was at home I would take my 1x9 Cove with Michelin xc 2.35 tyres, not a fat but almost ;)

Not my personal choice - but from the 'post-apocalypse' B-movie "The Vanguard" ;)

Re:

Because I'm thinking I'd be short on laughs after the obliteration of the planet, this bike just makes me smile...

Re:

Been thinking about buying a Surly ECR for the last couple of years now but I didn't know (until recently) that both Surly and Salsa were owned buy QBP. I was looking at their website and found something that I think would suit you requirements...

The Cogburn CB4. I know it's modern but it's nuts! All you need for prepper nonsense...
