Having never owned Pace suspension forks I'm wondering what they work like? Specifically RC36.
Better than a spring sprung Bomber Z2?

Thanks.

Ive had Z4 and Z2, but both air forks, the pace forks seem to be better, Ive got RC36 proclass and RC40s, they are very smooth! Really happy with them and the carbon looks great. But never had a coil bomber to compare it too.

Only ever owned rc35's
But must be the best fork i ever had... Kept them since new and only just sold them as wanted a change..... BIG MISTAKE...!!!!

Ive not had new for a while, had a set of RS psylo race and Manitou Mars(the higher end with anti bob), pace are smoother than those. Seem very smooth for small bumps, aswell as big stuff. The ones I have are secondhand, both sets. Should have bought them new years ago!!!

Having some fine RC38 Airforce Mk1's on my Orange C16R and now a set or RC35's on my other Orange C16R I must admit I am suitably impressed, great support from Retrobike member & PACE Wizzard 'justbackdated' (Tim from Fork English) I can't fault them. I've got Bombers on my Cindercone which are also great forks, but maybe coz Orange & Pace work so well that's the key to me really liking them.

Jussa :)

I only own pace RC35 and 36 suspension, never really tried anything else

I likes 'em as they're perfect for the sort of trails I normally ride. Easy to get parts for too and lightweight :p

Great forks, great action - but very much a race fork... Pace envisaged that riders would strip and clean them after every outing... If you want a fit and forget fork probably not the best choice.

The earlier elastomer forks do give that retro type of a ride... Personally can't speak for anything this side of the RC36.

If you do go for a pair, factor in a rebuild by justbackdated (Tim at Fork English). He the man when it comes to getting these forks operating at their peak ability.

Thanks, as smooth as modern forks?

There is a vast gulf in performance between old pace forks and modern forks, but in their day they were great. Personally I prefer bombers though, less flexy.

RC35/36 are perfect for a 'retro' build but don't buy them expecting them to hold up against todays forks.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm a self-confessed Pace fanboy.

But you'll have to buy a later Pace fork to get something approximating a Bomber in terms of stiffness, ease of maintenance and stability.

My RC36 Pro Class forks are contemporary to Bomber Z2s and I was blown away by how much better the Z2s were when I tried them on some rental bikes at Mountain Beach in 99.

Best of both worlds would probably be a pro-class 2 if you want a light spring fork.

RC40s are awesome forks though - as are RC39s and RC41s.

Writing this made me realise how bad I have this disease. I have working RC30, RC35, RC36 Pro Class, RC36 Evo II, RC38 Airforce II, RC39, RC40 and Rc41.
