Weinnman brake callipers refusing to sit straight!

Apologies if this has been asked many times before, but I did search!

I have completely stripped down, cleaned and regreased a pair of Weinnman 570 callipers, but they still pull up on the cable-side when used, so that the non-cable side pad rubs against the wheel when released.

No amount of tightening of the calliper bolt fixes this, so I can only assume the part that sits on the calliper bolt that holds the spring (which is made of hard plastic) has worn and needs replacing?

Or am I missing something else?

its the bolt at the rear that will straighten them, not the one on the front!

The spring sometimes pulls unevenly.
With the caliper in situ, unhook the spring from the stop on the caliper on the side that binds on the rim, this sounds like the non cable side from your description. With the spring released, pull it out away from the wheel, ie cold set the spring to give a stronger resistance. Then hook back onto the aluminium caliper. With a bit of trial error you will get it to work.
The weinmann 500s/730s were quite low quality, loking back in hindsight
 
Back in the 1950s the standard cure was to lightly tap downwards the top of the spring loop with anything suitable.

Thanks all. I had tried the repositioning of the whole calliper via the rear bolt, but no joy. And that’s where my knowledge ran out! I’ll try the cold set trick on the spring next.
 
Addition of a heavy-duty external shake-proof washer (like a Campagnolo BR-RE021) between the back of the caliper bolt spring mount and the frame might solve this problem.

Your 570s will have a black plastic shroud over the end of the main brake pivot. It has a hex shape rod inside sized for a 4 mm socket. To center your brake arms, loosen the bolt on the back of the crown or brake bridge, use the 4 mm socket to hold the brake arms centered and then tighten down the rear bolt.
