Wanted WANTED: Early to Mid Nineties 26" Steel MTB F&F

I'm building a bike up for my dad, the two frames I've had, both off here, had their issues, first a siezed seatpost that I couldnt shift (a GT karakoram) and now a BB that's siezed (Univega Alpina 5.5), and refuses to budge.

Ideally I'm looking for something similar to the above, but without anything stuck! If it includes a seatpost that can be removed, all the better.

My brief for this build was to do it on the cheap, so I'd expect whatever I end up getting to be a bit battered (I lucked out on the cosmetic condition of the GT and univega I think). Looking for rigid forks.

I'm in York, and could collect locally, ideally no further afield than Leeds.

Thanks

I have some GT frames!
Oh you bought one from me 😂
Bet you I could get that seatpost out ,i haven't been beaten yet? Steel or aluminium and even both in one frame..I'd take on the challenge for a parts trade ...always after stuff!

Yeah, that one's for me, and ideally hoping for even cheaper. I don't have the frame with the siezed seatpost anymore, otherwise I might have taken you up on it

I've got a 98 rockhopper that needs a new home. It's complete bike at the moment, but could split as I want to keep the wheels. It's a 19b inch frame though, so 5' 10 years upwards I'd say .

Shame I do like a seatpost challenge something very satisfying defying the odds!
I might have a frame ....I knows theres two or three in my other shed....might be a reason that there in that shed tho! It's kinda the dead shed 😂 I'll have a rummage....see if there's any sign of life in them.
They'd most likely be the other side of cheap...free!

If you still have the seized BB frame try an Aldi or Lidl plug in impact gun for about 25quid with a half inch BB tool.

Well worth the investment for the few times you will is it with good effect.
Just make sure you are rotating the correct way for each side of the BB.
THEY WILL RATTLE MOST THINGS OUT 👍
I wouldn't bother with the battery ones as if the battery degrades they just don't work as well especially If its for occasional use.

I'd planned to take it in to the local garage to do just that, but the teeth on the plastic DS cup have come off.. I know there are ways to get it out, but it just feels a bit too much effort for a frame that cost £25

I have an 18" Raleigh dune dancer complete and and a 17.5" muddy fox courier comp, they both need work but seat posts move,......... And I'm in York, Bishy rd.....
