Vintage Dawes Fat Chance Mountain Bike

Retro Newbie
I have for sale a vintage Dawes Fat Chance mountain bike. I bought it new in 1986/7. It comes in great used condition. Frame has a few chips, but no dents. A very ride-able and cool-looking bike.

I’ve not seen any of these for sale – so I assume that there may be some rarity value. It was probably one of the first Dawes mountain bikes to be made. I’m looking for offers around £85 – that’s a collected price from Stratford-on-Avon/Warwick area. I can arrange delivery at additional cost.

Frame: 18" Reynolds 501 Magnum
Shifters: Shimano STI (21-speed)
Front Derailleur: Shimano Exage 400 LX
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Deore LX
Cassette: Shimano
Cranks: Shimano biopace-SG

That's rather cool. mmmm

You sure of the age?

I'm pretty sure of the age - I'm desperately trying to find a diary that I kept when I took it to Iceland for a tour. I know I bought it a year or two before that - and I thought that was late eighties. I can search harder if this is a deal breaker for anyone.

No way it's 1986/7. More like 1990 (or later).
Correction to date - I've had a look through an old diary, and yes Sundayjumper is right - I would have purchased the bike new in 1990. Sorry for the error - bike still priced at £50 !! I'm thinking of putting it on ebay this weekend - so don't miss out !!
