Very expensive stumpjumper !!!

This is the classic line: To my knowledge there was only one stumpjumper before this, which had almost identical specifications but a different fork and groupset.

so it was identical except for the forks and groupset, but then remember that 'Almost all of the components are original. Except the seatpost, seat, grips, cables, tyres, chain, bottom bracket, inner tubes. ', so that means that the only part this bike shares with the original stumpie is the frame and nothing else, bargain! I'm selling my rolls royce bike and my trimble time trial bike and buying this instead!

:?: What would you pay for it on a good day?

I had an '84 stumpjumper in superb condition with all original components apart from chain, cassette and tyres and I sold it late last year for £225, which I thought was a fair price.

I thought so too (that's why I bought it!!!)
By this guys reckoning it should be worth £4k + now it has correct tyres and is rideable, but I'm guessing £300 would be more realistic - NOT THAT IT'S FOR SALE before anyone asks.

Aye- the only way ye can expect 'collectors' prices for anything is if it is literally mint condition- never ridden, and provenance to prove that this is the case- by all means an orignal stumpjumper might command a big price if that were so..........personally, I think bikes is for ridin', not for 'Mint In Box I Dare Not Touch It' collector pish!!

£225 for a good one from a decent seller sounds a bargain; but even though 300 sovs for this ought to be about right, it feels a bit steep now it's been outed.

I'm in two minds about these: no one is making any more of them and they scrub up well:

But at the end of the day, they're not that rare and should be ridden and enjoyed. The thought of people putting them in the loft until the pound gets stronger is too sad.
