Following numerous complaints regarding transactions in the classifieds we've decided to update the rules as follows > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17697

Please take a moment to read them.

The main updates are

Feedback Forum

Please use it! It can be found here > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=15
If you complain to me or on the main forum I expect you will have used the feedback forum already.

Bad Traders and temporary bans

The bad trader and temporary ban thread can be found here > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9758
First up with a temp ban is that constant problem konamad

Guidance

- Exchange 'real' contact details like name, address and phone number before the transaction occurs.

- Sell multiple items in one post.

- Keep commentary on pricing to a minimum - the value of retro parts is very subjective.

- Some 'trading' is acceptable - wheeling and dealing is part of the retro scene. However if you are doing it consistently suggest you use http://www.ebay.co.uk.

Complaints?

Remember we at retrobike supply these adverts free of charge as a service to buyers and sellers. Although we will try to assist in case of problems ultimately this must be sorted between buyer and seller. If this is an issue suggest you use a service like http://www.ebay.co.uk. where there is more comeback.

If you feel you need to make a complaint to a mod please supply the following information

1. Are you buyer or seller.
2. Other username.
3. Item and price paid.
4. Link to original advert.
5. Nature of complaint.
6. How have you contacted other user. PM, email, phone ?
7. Has feedback been left.

Myself and the other mods don't especially like all these rules. However it would seem that as the site grows some people continously take the piss. This causes problems and bad feeling for users. As such we hope these updated rules and guidance will help weed out the bad eggs and keep everyone happy.
Any comments please post up here :D

125 views and no replies? Assume all and sundry are happy with the new rules and guidlines and that we'll have no more issues with the classifieds.

Hi John, that sounds all fine and dandy. As usual, its the very small minority that necessitates these kinda rule changes.
Cheers, Carl

Didn't want to clog up this thread with my humble opinions, but since you asked, it's a good idea. We just have to take as many precautions as we can. Caveat emptor.

That sound fair enough with the new rules, hopefully that will put a stop to bad dealings that cause problems, let hope all future transactions will be smooth and fair for everybody.

Looks good John, and, as above, thankfully it is a tiny minority that are causing a lot of grief and wasted time all round.

All boils down to if you have time to advertise for sale and time to take people's money then you certainly have time to post and communicate if there are any delays. If you can't do the latter don't do the former - simple as.

i'm terrible at shipping within a reasonable time - feel free to ban me! might wake me up a bit.

Well, if you're sure ;)

Anyhow thanks for the feedback. On the one hand we don't want too many rules. On the other hand we don't want a free for all.
That said if it's a free for all people want that's what we'll provide - I don't think it is though.
