Unconventional Zaskar?

Hi,

A (very swift) search over the site didn't return a lot of matches, so I'm wondering -after receiving GT-Steve's Zaskar frame today-: is it unconventional to build it up with Manitou 3 forks, instead of with good ol' Rock Shox?

In other words: any (visually supported) examples of this (odd?) combination around, which can either convince me to proceed or to simply go the RS route anyway?

Thanks!

to hell with brand names - build it how you want to build it..

It's you that has to live with it and ride it.. ;)

Manitou's on a Zaskar

Thanks guys, appreciate that you're letting me decide for myself ;) .

Nonetheless, I'm still curious to see whether there are any examples of Manitou-equipped Zaskars around...

There you go. Took a serious bit of google image searching to come across it tho.

Effort

Thanks for your effort, RB!

Think I like it, especially when projecting a n*ked alu frame and a set of Manitou 3's on that picture :) .

Early Rock Shox are terrible!

There I said it, Al Carter fans take note.

MAG 20 and 21 were so damn wobbly with front to back flex and fork waddle, they didnt stay on my bikes for very long.

I found the early Manitous flexi but nowhere near as bad. I ran my '93 Zaskar with Manitou 2 but no pictures survived the intervening years.

*Just for Neil:

There are many fans of Rock Shox, especially the MAG series. After the recent AL CARTER problem, I am now overly sensitive to going in feet first and slagging a well loved brand or model straight off - I'm not the type to pussyfoot around so I put a sort of pre-warning up just in case a fanboy kicks off.

Zaskars have their issues too. They are hard as nails frames, this can give the impression to some that they are harsh but to others - 'just right'. But one day, someone will go in feet first and say 'Zaskars are shit' or such like. But, because this is a relatively happy forum (especially now the sun is out), I doubt many would kick of with such passion as one Al Carter fanboy.

A sense of humour and a joke is one thing, but repeated, and repeated, and repeated, and repeated... is just wanton baiting - is it really necessary?

Once was a feeble joke, keep doing it and it looks like you just want to bait somebody.

My Al Carter had a set of MAG21 which blew their seals quite spectacularly, matching the later Zaskar almost seal for seal - whats it to you?

Yeah, sure, it's entirely innocent - yet I can recall several threads, over the last few days, with you chucking in the Al Carter "look at me" comment, which appears entirely un-coincidental, after your recent spat with Rusty Scrubber.

If you've got unfinished business, what not take it to PM, rather than the repeated, snide digs?
