Whilst in the grip of all this snow I cant ride my usual classic road machines out and about.
Been using my faithful 1997 Univega Alpina 500 fitted with Mountain King 2.4s. These really grip in this snowy weather, hasn't put a wheel wrong!

my tyres dont grip in the dry let alone the wet stuff...flamin death traps...(onzas by the way)

excellent boots are Conti shame they stopped making Edge kevlar protection :x

I am finding the Specialized Roll X 2.0 aramid beaded things pretty good in the snow. I am running reduced pressures, about 40psi and they work well, even on mixed ground, snow and ice.

The best tyres I ever used in snow was the old Panaracer 2.1 Smoke on the rear and 1.9 Dart on the front. Yes, back then, I ran seperate size and tread pattern tyres front and rear.

Same for me but with opposite sizing: 2.1 Dart on front 1.9 Smoke on rear.

Bring back the old Panaracers, the reto guys and gals need them.

But is there anything like them available now ?

Or has that goodness gone forever.

Ran a pair of Panaracer Spikes on the Kila today - more grip than a grippy thing.

Non-retro pana trailrakers seem to work well in the snow as well.

Panaracer Fire XCpro at 1.8" worked a treat for me today. NArrow enough to cut through the deep snow and grippy enough for the hard packed stuff, dropped the psi down by quite a bit though.

In my opinion narrow tyres work better in snowy conditions.

XCPro 1.8's were what I swapped the Spikes for...though I didn't try the XCpros before swapping.
