tyre clearance on a "97 C16R

My C16R has been at the powder coaters for what seems like an eternity now, (ral 9023, but that will be another thread) and I have been buying parts for it ready to build it up as soon as I get it back. I have been thinking about tyres for it but dont know how big a tyre it can take in the back. I have a 1.8 and 2.0 MudX for this time of year but I also want to know what is the largest tyre I could get in there for a more comfort? What are your experiences? I have a 2.25 Nobby Nic in the shed among other things, is that going to fit?

Hi, looking forward to seeing the build, hope u post some pics, I've got two C16R's one complete and another in the making, my complete bike has some Onza Porcupines 26"x2.10 still seems to be good clearance. I've got a larger tyre on another bike so can see if it fits and what the clearance is like will drop you a line

I'm running 2.1s at the moment - don't think I'd put anything larger on, but 2.25s may just fit if you want to try. might struggle to get between the brake blocks though......
