salesguy is just a name i had to come up with for Facebook. I used to be the GM of a cycling shoe company here in the US and I had to do the social media stuff, but I didn't want to have a Facebook account. And didn't want to have all that personal info out there. So I came up with Salesguy. Real name is Michael.
Anyways, yeah, Greg. He was the last true innovator in cycling. I am kind of like you in I don't really like watching anymore. It just gets old. I know they are all doped to the max, or I should say just below the threshold of getting caught, and it's frustrating.
I started out racing 30+ years ago and I miss the old days. Watching people jump and go and NOT have radios where people would be like, Oh no biggie. Back in the day, it used to be real riding where people had to work!
I stopped watching during the Armstrong era. I couldn't watch it. Made me mad. After that, even tho I sponsored pros with gear, I couldn't watch. I would check highlights and info on Cyclingnews or the other sites. But that's it.
I did watch last year. A bit of it. Not all. But I will say it's the same as Lance's time. And it's just sad.
As for Greg's health, yes, he still has a medical issue. And yeah, the more he rides the more it kicks in. He said he is good for about an hour a day solid effort. But he can go longer if needed but just hurts more after. Which is sad to see of course. But I'll tell you, he can still hammer! He was flying up hills and still has a huge sprint on him.
He looks good. Seems very happy. I know things have been rough given all the Lance BS. But it's half over. Still has the USPS suit he is involved in on the periphery. But he's good. Seems it anyways which i guess is a start!
