I once participated in a bike race, circa 80km, as a forth person on 4 people tandem, what is the correct name for it? All i know is that I could swing from a beer can while riding and we were still overtaking most of the riders, that fast it was.

Probably rare enough not to have a proper name in common usage, but I'm sure you could shorten it to

Thx was trying to avoid the 'quad' bike as it means those horrible motorbikes taking over the great outdoors
