Top Gear stunt

Thing is you can't ever convince the likes who follow Jeremy Clarkson et al like sheep.

Top Gear is the last bastion of the politically couldn't care less, real man type who punches first and thinks later. The rest of society just don't get it, they are mavericks! Kicking against everything apologetic and weak the Guardian has manufactured over the last thirty years.

Let me see. James May. Richard Hammond. Jeremy Clarkson. Now Chris Evans.

What could they possibly all have in common?

I couldn't guess, because I just don't 'get' it.

It's not for me, Top Gear. I am far too conformist and pathetically meek to understand.

My humour is so limited, I can't understand why it is funny to deride foreigners and their countries; women, and anyone who just doesn't agree with the script they follow verbatim.

It's ironic that you criticise somebody like Clarkson for their tendency to insult other people they've never met and don't know, and yet don't realise that you do exactly the same.

Re:

Whilst I have not met every Top Gear fan, I feel I have met a representative group.

During the course of filming in many locations worldwide I am sure the Top Gear team met a representative number of the people they choose to deride.

Indeed, even those amongst their own team were not spared racist abuse. A matter of record.

Yawn as much as you wish, the facts remain.

Naturally, not all Top Gear fans are humourless evangelists for the self styled rebel for the right pay presenting style, but I don't feel obliged to accuracy.

Some people like the show despite that, in the same way I use black cabs despite the tendencies of drivers to espouse views that make Alf Garnett sound like Gandhi.

So, while you are free to hold your view, your point has none.

Maybe this picture will answer any question you have about Mr. highlandsflyer

You would never catch me wearing pressed trousers, unlike some Top Gear fans whose every thought and deed is regimented and prepared in advance.

I did not even generalise, as my remark was quite specifically directed at those who follow like sheep. Seems one or two here have taken that personally. Too baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Doubt you'd say that in a room full of my ex-Gulf war veteran buddies.
Jon.

Why not? Would debate be replaced by violence?

Very immature remark, who said anything about violence? I guess you've made the comment simply because you lack any respect for anything - miss the moral compass queue did you?

Jon.

Nothing was said but implied. Those who join the armed forces are generaly not known for non violent tendencies nor for superior debating skills.

To change the topic totally, why did you join?

No Jon, I was too busy waiting in the 'sense of perspective' queue.

That said, I totally agree that the whole Top Gear production team were obviously too stupid to realise that the sequence was ill-judged. But that's all, stupidity, not a reason for the critics to jump on the morality bandwagon and start preaching from the rooftops about the breakdown in society.

And yes, I'd happily voice my opinion to a room full of ex-army veterans. Wouldn't anybody?
